Hapag-Lloyd is expanding its African presence with new offices in Namibia and a Kigali setup serving Rwanda and Burundi, bringing the company closer to customers and strengthening its regional network.
The company’s new Walvis Bay office establishes a local presence in Namibia. In East Africa, the Kigali setup extends customer support and market expertise to Rwanda and Burundi, connecting both landlocked markets to Hapag-Lloyd’s regional and global network.
Hapag-Lloyd already supports Rwanda and Burundi through two weekly services via Dar es Salaam, with direct connections to India and the Far East. The Kigali setup complements these services by bringing support closer to customers.
“Strengthening our presence in Namibia, Rwanda and Burundi is an important milestone in the continued development of Hapag-Lloyd in Africa,” said Jesper Kanstrup, Managing Director Sub-Region Africa at Hapag-Lloyd. “Africa is a highly diverse continent, and serving our customers successfully requires a strong understanding of the individual markets in which they operate. By strengthening our presence, we combine local industry knowledge and customer proximity with the reach of Hapag-Lloyd’s global network. Each market offers different opportunities, and this expansion reflects our long-term commitment to our customers and to Africa.”
Africa’s growing economies, trade flows and global connections make it increasingly important to international trade. In line with its Strategy 2030 ambitions, Hapag-Lloyd will continue investing in local teams, expertise and partnerships to meet the distinct needs of African markets and connect them to its global liner network. The new presence in Namibia, Rwanda and Burundi marks another step in the company’s long-term growth across the continent.
