Proflight Zambia To Increase Solwezi And Kasama Flights

Extra Friday and Tuesday flights to Solwezi from October, with easy links to the new Johannesburg service – while Kasama grows to six flights a week.

Proflight Zambia has increased capacity and frequency this October on two of its key domestic routes, Solwezi and Kasama, in response to growing passenger demand, with schedules built around convenient connections.

A new Friday service links Lusaka and the north-western town of Solwezi, departing Lusaka at 11:05 and arriving at 12:15, before returning at 12:50 to land back in the capital at 14:00. The return leg has been timed to give passengers a comfortable 90-minute connection with the airline’s new Friday service to Johannesburg, which departs Lusaka at 15:40. The extra Friday flights will run until Christmas and resume in March 2027.

A further Tuesday service will be added from 13 October, departing Lusaka at 16:35 and arriving in Solwezi at 17:30. The aircraft will remain overnight there, returning early on Wednesday morning at 06:25 to reach Lusaka at 07:20, giving business travellers an early start to the working day and a quick connection to the airline’s 08:15 flight to Johannesburg.

Flights to Kasama, in Northern Province, have doubled to six a week, using a 29-seat turboprop aircraft. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, flights depart Lusaka at 10:25 and arrive in Kasama at 12:00, returning at 12:35 to land at 14:10. On Fridays, flights move to the afternoon, leaving Lusaka at 14:10 and arriving in Kasama at 15:45, with the return departing at 16:20 and arriving in Lusaka at 17:55. A few dates in October vary slightly owing to planned aircraft maintenance. All times are local.

“Solwezi and Kasama are important routes for business and leisure travellers, and the extra flights give passengers additional flexibility, choice and more reliable connectivity,” said Proflight Zambia Director, Government and Industry Affairs Captain Josias Walubita. “The changes reflect our continued commitment to matching capacity with demand across our domestic network as Zambia increasingly gets on the move.”

Mansa, the third route to benefit from the airline’s domestic expansion, had its schedule increased in July and, since 13 September, has had a daily scheduled service for the first time. The growth comes as Mansa Airport undergoes runway and terminal upgrades, which the airline says could eventually allow larger aircraft to serve the route.
