Maputo International Airport’s New Cargo Facility Opened by Menzies Aviation

Menzies Aviation, a global partner in airport and airline services, announced the official opening of a new cargo facility at Maputo International Airport, Mozambique. This state-of-the-art facility massively increases the airport’s freight capacity, confirming the global company’s strategic plans for growth across East Africa.

Equipped with advanced technology and modern infrastructure, this new facility will give Menzies Aviation an edge in its cargo services to airlines by making them faster, safer, and more efficient. The company also expects its regional customer base to grow within the next couple of months due to the sustained expansion of demand for reliable air freight solutions across the region.

This new cargo facility is designed and built to fulfil the rapidly growing needs of its airlines and customers. Menzies has used advanced technology that ensures speedy and safe handling of cargo, thus reducing transit times and smoothing general operational efficiency. This will enable airlines to offer timely cargo services to customers, a vital pre-requisite in today’s fast-paced air freight industry.

The current facility in Maputo serves two major airline customers: Airlink and Qatar Airways. These airlines have had a great presence within the region and now have partnered with Menzies to take advantage of efficient and reliable cargo services. With this facility, both airlines will be handling more volumes of freight while meeting tight delivery schedules and ensuring the safe movement of goods.

Operating as National Aviation Services for the first three years, Menzies Aviation has called Maputo International Airport home since 2018. This year, the company rebranded and further expanded its services and presence within the airport. Thus, with exclusive lounges on both the international and domestic terminals of the airport, Menzies has been pushing for better passenger travel at the airport since 2019.

This adds to the pairing of a cargo handling facility with ground handling services, further bolstering the Menzies offering in Mozambique, which includes the popular “Meet and Assist” service. Maputo International is the busiest airport in the country, and this ongoing investment in infrastructure by Menzies reflects the company’s long-term commitment to supporting operations at the airport and, more generally, the aviation sector in Mozambique.

The opening of the cargo facility in Maputo by Menzies Aviation is part of its bigger ambitions to expand across East Africa and other regions around the world. Either way, the company is developing a strategy to improve quality through new equipment and workspace investment that will give employees the opportunity to be productive.
