DP World Launches Brazil–Africa Logistics Corridor to Boost Trade Connectivity

Global logistics company DP World has launched a new integrated trade corridor linking Brazil to Africa, in a move aimed at strengthening connectivity between Latin America’s largest economy and fast-growing African markets. Known as the Brazil–Africa Link, the corridor was officially unveiled at Intermodal South America 2026 in São Paulo. The new service connects export flows from the Port of Santos to DP World’s operations in Angola and Mozambique, while also leveraging a wide logistics network across South Africa to ensure efficient cargo movement across the continent.

The Brazil–Africa Link is designed as a “one-stop shop” logistics solution, combining ocean freight with inland transport and warehousing services. This means customers can manage their entire supply chain through a single provider, reducing the complexity often associated with international trade. The corridor gives access to three port terminals, 52 warehouses, and a fleet of more than 4,250 vehicles, creating a seamless flow of goods from origin to final destination. This integrated approach improves efficiency, enhances visibility, and ensures more reliable delivery timelines for businesses trading between Brazil and Africa.

The service is particularly targeted at key Brazilian export sectors such as animal proteins, agricultural commodities, and consumer goods. These industries depend heavily on efficient logistics to maintain product quality and meet market demand. By simplifying the shipping process and improving transit predictability, the new corridor allows exporters to expand their reach into African markets with greater confidence. It also helps reduce delays and operational challenges, which are common in fragmented supply chains.

According to DP World executives, the initiative represents a major step forward in strengthening economic ties between the two regions. Fabio Siccherino, CEO of DP World in Brazil, noted that the corridor simplifies the journey for Brazilian exporters and opens up new business opportunities in Africa. Meanwhile, Mohammed Akoojee, CEO and Managing Director of DP World in Africa, described the project as a transformative development that connects Brazil with high-growth African economies. He highlighted that the corridor builds on the company’s investments in ports, free zones, and digital logistics systems across Angola, Mozambique, and South Africa.

In Brazil, DP World continues to expand its logistics capabilities through a strategy focused on ports, freight forwarding, and contract logistics. At the heart of these operations is the Port of Santos, one of the country’s most important trade gateways. The company operates a major multipurpose terminal at the port, supporting both containerised and bulk cargo. It also runs six freight forwarding offices across Brazil, offering multimodal transport solutions that include ocean, air, and road services, as well as additional support such as warehousing, insurance, and customs clearance.

Significant investments are also being made to increase capacity at the Port of Santos. After handling a record 1.3 million TEUs and 5 million tonnes of pulp in 2025, DP World is investing more than R$2 billion in infrastructure upgrades. These include expanding the quay, adding new equipment, building a new berthing pier, and developing a grains and fertilizers terminal in partnership with Rumo. An additional R$1.6 billion investment will further boost container capacity to 1.7 million TEUs by 2026 and 2.1 million TEUs by 2028.

The Brazil–Africa Link strengthens the foundation for more efficient and reliable trade between the two regions. By combining expanded port capacity in Brazil with a strong logistics network in Africa, DP World is creating a more resilient trade corridor. This is expected to support growing demand, improve supply chain performance, and unlock new economic opportunities for businesses on both sides of the Atlantic.
